USA — Part 1
It’s time to reunite with family and friends I haven’t seen for more than a year. Great to see y’all! Thank you for your generous hospitality and for making the first half of my American tour happy and comfortable!!!
Washington
My first stop was beautiful Seattle. May is springtime in the Pacific northwest. Although flowers were blooming everywhere, temperatures never got above 65°F. Coming from balmy Kosrae, I practically froze to death!

California
Next, I flew south to San Francisco to see my sons and many dear friends. I also met with doctors and nurses at UCSF who saved me from leptospirosis last year. Thank you all!

While in San Francisco, I joined the No Kings! march. Although ~50,000 people of all ages marched peacefully through the city, I can’t say whether this demonstration — and all the other protests happening the same day — will have any effect on Washington DC. If you didn’t join any of these protests, here’s a short video to show you what you missed.
I enjoyed everyone’s signs. When politics is the problem, humor is the best antidote.

Tennessee
Having grown up in Nashville, I came here to visit many friends from kindergarten to high school. Although Nashville has changed a lot since the 60’s, it’s still one of America’s friendliest cities.

Washington DC
I came to Washington DC to see what’s happening in our nation’s capital. Not much, as far as I could tell. So a fellow traveler and I followed I-68 to western Maryland to find scenes of vintage “Americana”.

This concludes the first half of my American tour. From here, I’m going someplace very un-American. Stay tuned for a visit to my 192nd country!
It was great to see you and share my joy with my success making cornbread! Happy travels to 192!!!
It is nice to see you smile in all the photos, and all your friends happy to be in the picture with you.
Don’t appreciate the NO KINGS stuff, but politics aside, I like your travel posts.
Can’t believe it has been more than a month since your Seattle stop. Enjoying the photos of your other USA stops. BTW, the No Kings protest drew more than 2,000 folks to a busy intersection here in lil’ ol’ Yakima.
I recognize one of those gals in the Nashville photos! She was on my Greece tour in April. And so glad to see the video of the famous geologic readout in Maryland! Bomber!!
Welcome back to what’s left of our country 🥴;
We so look fwd to some time together once you finally hit the east coast!
Enjoy each minute …
💕Carol & Craig🍉🍉
Welcome Nick! Beautiful to see you and all your friends and as always, your fabulous photographs. Kings march was especially impressive!
Enjoy the hot humid June temperatures of our north east heat wave. Surely Korsea is far more pleasant..
By the way, Happy Birthday, belated, and Happy July 4th!
It’s Mark from Kosrae Island Hopper
If you get to Tennessee in July look me up
What pure joy it was seeing our favorite intrepid adventurer in Nashville and watching your fascinating and delightful presentation “ Travels to the Ends of the Earth” at our house..
We look forward to your return next year and a chance to meet your lovely wife!
